Handmade owl box (Ruru or Little Owls)

Having owls nesting on your property is a magical experience! If you have owls in the area, one of these owl boxes mounted up off of the ground will be a tempting home for them.

petshop.nz works with Little Paddock Projects, a timber workshop in Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island, to have these amazing owl boxes handmade and ready to install at your place.

Made of 12mm marine ply (untreated) or 12mm exterior ply (LSOP treated only) these boxes and glued and nailed to last as long as the wood does. 

Details include a removable floor panel for cleaning outside of nesting times, a top drip strip for keeping the rain from running in, and a wind and rain screen inside of the "front door" so the birds can stay cozy. We even find a excellent little piece of driftwood for the front perch.

The applied finish is either natural oil for some extra protection, or we can leave it unfinished if you'd prefer painting it your own colours.

As these are handmade to order it may take a few weeks for delivery.
